Niko's Top Surgery

My name is Niko. I am an educator, a jester, an illustrator, a dancer, a writer, and a healer. My story is far from over, and I am very excited to carry the wisdom and lessons I have been given into the world.
I am asking for support from family and friends for my upcoming top surgery on September 15th with Dr. Scott Mosser (https://drmosser.com) in San Fransisco, California. The total cost of the surgery is $10,000 USD.
I stand today in my true energy and I feel like I am full of light and love. It was not always this way, and I have trekked a long distance over the past five years.
On my 25th birthday I realized that I had a lot to uncover and look at within myself and found my first resonant therapist that week. I quickly rediscovered my art; illustration and life and joy began flowing through me. The night of the supreme court decision on marriage equality, June 26, 2015, I realized that I had been hiding my queer identity even from myself; that night everything shifted and I vowed to live my most vibrant and true life, no matter what. The next five years were a spiritual, cosmic, wild, joyful ride -- I experienced my first openly queer relationship, I found my life calling as a radical Reggio-Emilia forest preschool teacher, I started a small illustration and t-shirt business, I met my best friend who showed me what unconditional poetic love is, and I went through a spiritual transformation during my yoga teacher training at Practice Yoga and simultaneously shifted to a fully independent and single adult human. I felt for the first time what self love and self celebration felt like. During this last phase of transformation, I came out as a non-binary boy, took the name Niko, and moved to the Rockies to began a new life phase with the most magically aligned people.
To be my fullest and best self, I want to be in my body fully. I began testosterone on May 13th, 2020, and I am feeling so full of joy and more grounded and at home in my body than ever before. As I grow stronger and my reflection matches my inner energy, I feel brighter and brighter.
Being able to walk around freely shirtless, being able to dance and move my body unencumbered, is a dream I have had since I was 10 years old, I rememeber looking in the mirror before a shower, wearing my favorite blue swim trunks and thinking, "this is the last moment of my life that I will be able to walk around shirtless and be passable as a boy." The joy and excitement I feel at the thought of a flat chest is beyond words.
Thank you deeply for hearing my story, for any support that you can give to help me in this enormous transformation. I extend gratitude to you for reading my story. I will use the rest of this life to bring justice, kindness, truth, connection, and peace to the world.
