I’m writing this on behalf of the Archer family, their extended family and friends.

 

The Yate community has been following the horrific journey the Archer family have been going through since Vicky first became ill in 2016 with a mysterious illness which to date no one has definitively diagnosed. Since 2016 Vicky has been hospitalised for extended periods of time with her parents by her side constantly fighting for diagnosis and treatment.

 

Vicky is a 20 year old who has a treatable illness, which was previously diagnosed as autoimmune encephalitis. In the past Vicky has responded successfully with prompt immunotherapy treatment. Prompt treatment for autoimmune encephalitis reduces mortality and improves long term outcomes.

 

Vicky was in hospital between January and April 2022 because she had relapsed for the 7th time, even requiring ICU care. Vicky continues to suffer with confusion, pain and a rash, she has deteriorated considerably during the past week.

 

Although Vicky is still desperately ill and showing signs of encephalitis, her medical team have discharged her to a care home WITHOUT treatment. The hospital will not treat Vicky symptomatically for autoimmune encephalitis or the systemic inflammatory condition affecting her central nervous system which she has been diagnosed with during the past 6 years.

Vicky's family are seeking legal advice and a private care referral.

 

I have set this up for Vicky’s family who I know in the local community and I know they have done EVERYTHING they can to get their daughter the treatment she needs. Whatever monies are raised will go towards Vicky’s care and any legal costs that may be required.
