Chase’s Medical Funds

Donation protected
So many have followed us on this journey! It has been a very long 20 days and we have so many more to go! Chase is 19 and recently graduated from Magnolia High school. On 11/17/19 Chase was admitted to the hospital throwing up blood. We spent a week at the Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Woodlands where they did all kinds of testing, and blood transfusion and couldn’t come up with why or how to stop it. He had 3 episodes of the throw up massive amounts of blood and was put on the ventilator twice. On 11/22/19 we were transferred to Memorial Hermann TMC (Downtown). That following day he had the biggest episode of throwing up blood, he bleed out for 3 hrs and received over 26 units of blood, at that point he was rushed to the OR in critical condition. He was in the OR for 4 hrs. He had a ulcer on the top of a main artery that burned a hole in the artery and was causing the bleed outs, so they took the part of the stomach out with the ulcers and clamped off the artery. We go 4 days no issues he is eating and out of bed and we got discharged from the hospital on 11/27/19, we were home for maybe 3 hrs when we had to call 911 because he started throwing up blood again, so we headed back to TMC while on the way he was given another unit of blood. We were admitted that night. They did an EGD and found another ulcer bleeding, so they clamped it off. He had another bleed out the next day and they went back in with the EGD scope and clamped two more off and one that looked liked it was ready to bleed. He again bleed out the next day, he was rushed back to OR where they had to remove 98% of his stomach. They also put in a tempo feeding tube. We are at day 6 after surgery and he is not able to keep anything down, so they are placing the EG tube back down his nose to suction everything and that will remain there until we get this issue figured out. They did a swallow test around 6pm, it shows that he has some sort of blockage going on. They are going to place the EG tube back down his nose for suction tonight and we aren’t sure how long that will have to stay. They are going to run another CT scan to see if the blockage is from surgery or something in his intestines. There are a lot of complications on either side of this and he is pretty upset about having the tube placed again but knows it has to be done. In total Chase has received over 60 units of blood since this all started. He has been on the ventilator 3 separate times and had the EG tube 4 times now, most of our stay in the hospital has been in STICU or ICU. We are currently waiting to be moved to an IMU room for the night from the gastric floor. I know we already had a gofund but we shut it down to prepare for him to come home! We have that money prepared for Home Health and all the medical supplies that is needed but it wasn’t enough to cover everything. We are need of more help as his insurance still hasn’t been approved and we aren’t sure it will because he didn’t qualify for emergency Medicaid. It cost $13 a day to part in the medical center, plus I, his momma, have not been to work 1 full day in 3 weeks. Anything will help us! Even if you can’t donate please share this!
