Thad Rasberry's Life Changing Surgery

Thad Michael Rasberry was born 1/14/2001, in Kalamazoo Michigan at 6 weeks early. When he was 1 year old, we found out he had Cerebral Palsy. This causes spasticity in the muscles of his legs making it difficult for him to walk and run. He has been through 12 years of physical therapy, casting on his legs, and Botox shots. All these things were temporary help for Thad. As he gets older, things will become harder for him, and he will have more pain and problems. We recently found a surgery called SDR (Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy) that will take away the spasticity in Thad’s legs!! Making it possible for Thad to live without the pain and tightness that comes with cerebral palsy. He will be able to walk and run normally after lots of hard work, and he is super excited about this opportunity. For the last couple years Thad has struggled with his legs and been very frustrated asking me why God gave him these legs and that he hated his legs. I have always told Thad that God chose him because he knew was strong enough to deal with it. After our meeting with Dr. Parks, Thad said “Mom I’ve prayed for new legs and God has answered my prayers!!!!” Thad’s surgery has been scheduled for October 31st. We will have extra expenses, and all monies donated will go to these extra expenses. It will be a lot of work for Thad, but he is strong enough and we will keep you all posted about his progress via Facebook. Thank You and God Bless!
