Herbert came to SEDR as an unclaimed stray - presumed dumped.
Herbert arrived in a sorry state, and spent 4 days at our vets for investigation - including blood tests, ultrasounds and xrays.
- Herbert has an ear infection
- He also has an infected mouth - needing a dental
- He is cryptorchid meaning only one testicle descended, leaving him at risk of testicular torsion and cancer. He needs to be neutered which will result in a longer, much more invasive operation than a routine castrate.
- Herbert also has several tumours that need removing and analysing - a plasmacytoma, a mast cell tumour and an anal adenoma. All of these tumours could be malignant, and if left, pose a high risk to his life. The investigation at our vets show that as far as we can see, these tumours have not spread to his organs - but he does need one of his lymph nodes removing. Removal of the tumours and the lymph node will give him the best chance of survival.
We are fully aware that this is a huge surgery for an older dog, and have discussed this at length with our vets. We feel that as the investigation already carried out is at this stage positive, and given his good quality of life, we need to ensure we do everything we can to give him the best possible chance
We can only do this with your help - even the smallest donation will really help us to help Herbert <3
