A parent's worst nightmare is receiving a phone call from neighbors saying your son was in a severe accident and an ambulance is on its way. This occurred on July 17 2014.
Our 19 year old son Merrick suffered a traumatic leg injury after falling through a tile in the kitchen and subfloor. The subfloor had crumbled and gave away due to unknown water damage from a poorly designed area in front of our backdoor. The broken tile severed his muscle, tendons, ligaments and nerves in his lower leg. After four hours of emergency surgery and 5 days at the hospital to repair the leg it will be a tough long road to recovery.
A sophomore at Allegheney College, his dreams of football and track are now on hold. Due to his injury there is a loss of income from mother and son. The medical expenses and ongoing rehab expenses not covered by insurance will be great. The immediate and necessary repairs to the damaged floor is not covered by homeowners insurance.
Every little donation will help and is greatly appreciated!
Please continue saying prayers and well wishes to Merrick during his long journey.
We want to extend our thanks to Maine Medical staff, our neighbors, friends and all of you for your compassion and support.
We are blessed to have you in our lives.
Please share Merrick's story.
