A Serviceman & His Dog

A Serviceman and His Dog,

My son Thomas, a Navy Seabee, has been stationed in Pakistan for the last 18 months and is finally coming home! When Thomas first arrived there he was lonely, and of course it was difficult as anyone can imagine, until one day he saw a small puppy running between cars on a busy street and no one stopped to help. Thomas ran to help the puppy and immediately befriended it. He could tell the dog was a roamer because he was thin and matted etc.
He took him back to his compound, cleaned him up and the two became fast friends. Thomas thinking he was a Bhagyari (a Pakistani breed of dog) gave him a nickname Yari. Later Thomas found out that he was actually a mixed breed. However he also discovered the name he had given his dog meant friendship in Erdu, the language spoken in Pakistan.
Through the good days and especially the bad days they had each other, and they got through them together.
Thomas is now retuning back to the states for a different post. Thomas knew they would travel together, as dogs can travel as part of luggage. However they have a new problem, which has become a major one, Yari had grown too big. With all of the love and friendship Yari is now 15 pounds over the weight allowed which requires a larger crate as well. The fee to get him back home just rose to $2,500.00. This was not expected or planned and a tough decision will have to be made. Together with your help, we can eliminate the decision. Help us Keep Yari & Thomas together! Please support our campaign to keep a serviceman and dog together! Let's thank him for his service.
