In late June I went to the doctors because I was getting bad head aches and dizziness. After doing scans they found in my MRI that I had a large Meningioma tumor that was pressing against my spinal cord and not allowing the spinal fluid to flow to my brain easily. The tumor was resting against several nerves causing facial paralysis and loss of hearing in my right ear. Luckily this type of tumor isn’t cancerous. My only option was to have surgery to remove the tumor.
For the past 3 1/2 months my life has consisted of lots of prayers from family and friends and preparing myself for a successful surgery. Many trips to the neurologist and ear specialist in Honolulu and Queens hospital. My family has been so awesome with just dropping their everyday lives and being by my side every step of the way. I am happy to report that the surgeons and their team of angels were able to get the whole tumor and I don’t need to go and get radiation. My recovery is going great and I should be returning to my everyday life by the end of the year.
Of course I feel like I’m ready to get back into everyday life but I do need to take some time before I do that. I am a single mother trying to provide for my son and keep his life as normal as possible as he did just go through a life changing experience with me. The medical bills as well as living expensences are rolling in and I’m not working to have income to take care of those.
This experience for me is a blessing in disguise. You take for granted the life that God has given us and the people that are most important to you. I use to find myself working so much to provide the “material things” for my child and myself thinking that would bring happiness but I know now that all we need is each other and the ones that bring positive vibes into our lives.
I don’t normally ask for help in situations like this but I need to drop my pride and think about my well being as well as my child. Mahalo Mahalo!!!!
