Medical and Living Expenses

In a recent discussion with one of my amazing doctors, the subject came up of life, and the lessons that we learn as we grow older. We talked about one of the most difficult things a man must learn to do in his life, no...not asking for directions, but asking for help. This piece of wisdom took him decades to learn, and he urged me to take it to heart and learn it sooner. After absorbing this advice, and checking my pride at the door, I decided to take it from him and ask. Here is why I'm asking for help.
As most of my friends and family know, I battled with Ulcerative Colitis, an Inflammatory Bowel Disease, from the age of 9 until about 14. My life was in the balance as the disease tore though my body and finally, after years of pain, months in the hospital, multiple surgeries, and countless prayers, I was blessed to get through that unbelievably difficult time and come out with something most people take for granted everyday, their health. Then, 14 months ago, while working out of state, the stress, long hours, and homesickness took its toll and I began to have stomach aches again. They progressed relentlessly, and with chronic fatigue, severe pain, and nearly 30 lbs of weight lost, I quit my job to return home to Maine, and to battle again for my life. After months of different treatments, diagnoses, procedures, and surgeries, there were still more questions than answers. Finally, after working with doctors from Augusta and Boston, the enemy in this battle was revealed to be a similar foe, Crohns Disease. Armed with this new diagnosis we have begun an aggressive treament which I hope and pray will give me back my health and my life. This is why I am asking for help. I have missed months of work over the past year, and have used every bit of my savings to survive. While I do my best to work and maintain my health insurance coverage, I am accumulating a significant amount of medical bills on top of my day to day living expenses. I know most of us live paycheck to paycheck and work hard for what we have, but I am taking a friends advice, and asking for your help to get me through this. Please share my story and page with people you know and feel free to get in touch with me anytime. Any gift you are able to give will be so appreciated and cherished. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your gifts, prayers, love, and support, without which I wouldn't be here today.
