Ojara's Medical Expenses & Care

Hello there,

My name is Benjamin. I am from Uganda, East Africa.

I am a c7 quadriplegic after being hit by shrapnel from Al Shabaab terrorists’ bombs that killed over 75 world cup soccer fans in Uganda’s capital Kampala on the 11/7/2010.

I am on a tracheostomy tube because I have respiratory problems and need to be suctioned to clear phlegm from my lungs.

When I got discharged from the hospital, there was no better place for me to go other than an orphanage in Kitgum, a district to the north of Uganda.

The orphanage was started by my caretaker, a lady from New Zealand.

Here, I live and work with over a hundred vulnerable children. Some of them got wheels like me, some of them are epileptic, others got nodding syndrome and there are those with HIV too.

That said, I am a great fan of The Facebook God; and about seven months ago, I won his T-shirt when the name of the person I posted to be blessed by him won the most likes from my fellow fans.

When God sent me my T-shirt, I was very happy to find a THANK YOU card lying on it. Inside the card was a beautiful message written in his handwriting, perhaps.
To cut the story short; I asked The Facebook God if he could do something to help, since I live on support.

Personally, I have been living for the past four years with the help of paid caregivers. Trondsen from Norway and a lady from the USA made this possible.

The last time I heard about my American supporter, she was terribly sick and had been down for close to ten weeks by that time. I was told she has got shingles, a very painful disease.I am asking you to consider putting her and the family in your thoughts and prayers.

To avoid confusion, I spoke with my Norwegian supporter and my caretaker about this new development and they agreed that I give it a try.

My annual expenditure is about US dollars 4,726.

When this amount is broken down, it will be:

US dollars 1,500 is for my caregiver (@$125 a month).

US dollars 1095 is for feeding (@$3 a day).

US dollars 360 is for my tracheostomy tubes (@$30 a month).

US dollars 190 is for my male external catheters (@$2.6 every five days).

US dollars 60 is for urine bags (@$0.822 every five days).

US dollars 21 is for my suction catheters (@$2.972 every seven days).

My annual medical emergency cost is USD 1,500, including my suction machine maintenance and wheelchair battery replacement costs.

After one year’s ride, my wheelchair batteries are usually not in good condition and need replacement.

By means of this page, I am kindly requesting you to consider giving me your kind support.

Warm regards,
Benjamin
