Hi! You might remember me from short indie video hits like Helpless Maiden Makes an "I" Statement, Through The Looking Glass, or Sight which screened at 2013's Tribeca Film Festival and won Best Experimental Film at the Female Eye Film Festival this year.  I'm a filmmaker/video artist living with multiple marginalized identities such as being Indigenous (Plains Cree), being a Lesbian, and living with a disability (Bipolar Disorder).

This year I was accepted into a Masters program at Ryerson for Media Production.  I applied to my reserve for post secondary funding, but I am way down on the waitlist and school is starting September 2nd. I've got a little bit of funding to pay some tuition and I am applying for another bit of funding for living allowance.
I'm also in Saskatchewan, and I need to move myself and my two wiener dogs all the way to Toronto.  I have a plane ticket but I need to move art related stuff (archival videotapes, drawings, books) and my furniture and clothes.  I did have 900 saved up for the movers but a sudden Macbook issue happened that wiped out all that money so I could get a new logicboard and have a usable computer again (90% of my work is done with my laptop).  I also need to pay first and last month's rent at where ever I end up renting in Toronto.  And get through September until funds free up in October when my fellowship remainder will be transferred to me.
I'm only asking for 3450 at this point to get through the first month and a half of living and rent and pay for moving costs. I am hoping by the time January rolls around I will have moved up the waitlist and get funding from my reserve.
In the event some funding finds me, I am gonna put the rest of the money raised by this campaign into new video projects, which will probably be about an Indigenous Lesbian with Bipolar.  Actually it will probably go to my webseries about Indigenous people colonizing Mars.
Thanks for any money you can give me!  I blame Jean Chretien for this situation, he was the Indian Affairs Minister who capped post secondary funding for Indigenous Canadians, and since then our treaty rights for education have been clawed back by a racist Canadian government.
