Cooper Strong

As many of you know good friends of mine and Bobby's have gone through difficult times this past year and lost their son at an extremely young age.  As a result, our friends the Lynch family has set up a foundation in memory of their beloved son, Cooper Nils Lynch.
On October 12th, I will be running the Fall Foliage Half Marathon in Rhinebeck, NY to honor and remember our little angel, Cooper, and to raise money for his foundation, Cooper Strong. The proceeds from Cooper Strong help the families of babies in the NICU of Boston Children's and Bringham and Women's Hospitals in Boston, MA. While the Lynch's spent their 3+ months in the NICU with their boys they noticed many out-of-town families who came to Boston with the same hopes of saving their children as the Lynch's did that were in dyer financial straits and could not afford hotels or reduced rate hospital housing in the area and instead lived in the hospital waiting room. This foundation is set up to help pay for the living expenses and hospital bills of these out-of-town families of these sickly babies.
Please find it in your heart to donate to this worthy cause and to remember little Cooper.

Cooper and the Lynch Family Journey:
Cooper was a strong and courageous little boy. In his 5 short months with us, he showed us his amazing spirit and his "Cooper Smiles" (as his Dad called it) while fighting for his life. In his mother's womb he was diagnosed with multiple heart defects and it was determined that he would require open heart surgery within the first few months of his life. His parents did a lot of research and discovered that Boston Children's Hospital has one of the best children's cardiac departments in the country and met with doctors to develop a game plan. Boston is 3 hours or 190 miles away from their home and required them to be Bostonians 3+ months due to the early arrival of their twins (they were 2 1/2 months premature) and Cooper's condition. Once he was born, he was diagnosed with VACTERL Association. VACTERL association is a disorder that affects many body systems. VACTERL stands for vertebral defects, anal atresia, cardiac defects, tracheo-esophageal fistula, renal anomalies, and limb abnormalities. People diagnosed with VACTERL association typically have at least three of these characteristic features. Cooper went through a few smaller surgeries in the first few months of life but was able to spend some quality time at home with his Mom, Dad, twin bother Gunner, and many family/friends before his big heart surgery. At the end of June Cooper had his heart surgery and a few weeks later died of complications from it. Cooper had an amazing personality and demeanor as nothing really phased him (while his twin bother would cry at the drop of a hat).  Cooper Strong was set up to remember his spirit and to help families in similar situations to the Lynch's.

Thank you so much for taking the time to come to this website and please consider donating to this worthy cause in memory of Cooper. God Bless.
