Landon Piekema is currently admitted in the Stollery Children's Hospital in Edmonton. He is having uncontrollable seizures. He is a 21 month old twin of Jobina and Roger Piekema. As their family struggles to find out what is wrong with little Landon their lives have been flipped upside down.

Landon was diagnosed with Tuberous Sclerosis (Ts). His ultrasound of his kidneys came back clear and his eyes are clear - this is amazing news. The MRI showered that there are tubers present and with the findings from the EEG it is clear we are dealing with TS. Genetics came by and we will be doing some testing to see and find out more and Layton will also be tested for the gene.
We are still terrified, confused, angry and frustrated. But we have answers, granted not the ones we had hoped for. So, we will be doing everything we can to educate ourselves and give our family the best chances. We are no where near where we need to be mentally, physically or emotionally with all of this and we will need time to wallow, ask questions, cry, etc... But we are on a new journey and we can't have our children live in a bubble. Although, we are very excited to get our goofy, smiling, flirty Landon back and hopefully leave angry tornado Landon here, but it will take a while for the drugs to work through his system.
We still have a lot of questions, and a lot to work out before heading back to GP, but we trust in our neurology team, in our love and in our family!

This Fund will be used to help this family pay for the expense to have their family in Edmonton during this duration. However long it will take. This is a life threatening disease that will not only effect their lives financially, but also physically. The identical twin brother of Landon, Layton is also being tested and may also have TS. This is far from over after a diagnosis is made. This will help their family financially to perhaps not have to worry about the mortgage, etc......
Please help this AMAZING family in any way possible.
