rescued kitty's ortho surgery

Gypsy was taken in by New Beginnings Cat Rescue in Richardson, TX on 10/1/17.   She is a semi feral, calico girl that was a stray living on the streets of Oak Cliff.   The vet estimates her to be about a year old.   A lady who was feeding her noticed she had been missing for a few days and when she reappeared, it was apparent that Gypsy had a broken leg.  The vet believes she was hit by a car and she has been suffering for several days in this condition.  Once she was trapped and brought in to the vet, x-rays revealed that both of Gypsy's legs were broken.

One of the breaks is a severe, compound fracture as seen in the photo of her in the cage.   The bone is protruding through her skin and there is a high risk of infection.  Her other leg is an internal break just above her kneecap.  Because of the nature and severity of the injuries, the vet has called in an orthopedic surgeon and the estimate to fix both legs is $2,500.

There is a very strong possibility that Gypsy will lose one, possibly both of her legs.  The othopedic surgeon will know more once he begins the procedure.  Once the surgery is complete she will be rehabbed and when appropriate, placed for adoption.

Funds for her surgery are needed immediately and any amount is greatly appreciated to help us help little Gypsy.
