Byron's Diabetic Alert Dog

Three years ago my son, Byron, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Since that day our lives were forever changed. We struggle daily to keep him healthy and safe. Every night while he is sleeping I worry that his blood sugar may drop dangerously low. Struggling with this disease has been harder for him than even I could ever know.

We recently adopted a dog to be his Diabetic Alert Dog. Byron’s new friend, Deuce, will be able to smell when his blood sugar is on its way down and will alert him or even me when he is in danger of going low. Not every diabetic is able to detect when they are low, Byron has a hard time feeling this, usually, until it is too late.  It is my hope that Deuce can put an end to Byron’s extreme lows, which have scared us all. No more passing out on the playground or falling down the stairs because he is too weak.
The training for Deuce comes at a big financial cost, but worth every cent.  So many people have suggested that I use gofundme to help with this cost. Please if you can, donate or share to help Deuce get his training and help keep Byron healthy, safe and happy.
