Misty's fight for Life

Misty Marie Stuart was born April 20th 1995 to William (Bill) and Nancy Stuart. She was raised in Belle Fourche S.D. where she still lives.
After Misty graduated in May of 2013 her health became an issue. She was having problems eating and then began having pains in her lower back and hip area. The doctors thought it was her Gallbladder so in the beginning of 2014 it was removed. Still after this procedure she still was not getting any better. As for the pains in the lower back/hip area they had done a X-Ray that had shown Scoliosis. Her symptoms progressed and then a MRI was preformed which showed a large lobular heterogeneous soft tissue mass in the left lower retro peritoneum of the pelvis.
Misty Stuart age 19 has a history of Neurofibromatosis. In July 2014 although Neurofibromatosis is usually not cancerous (benign) in this case she was diagnosed with the rare kind. Its called Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor. These tumors grow on the nervous system. The tumor that she has attached to her spine and tail bone causing her not to have much mobility for walking. July of 2014 Misty was sent over to the Mayo Clinic to go further testing. The CT scan showed a malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor. The results from the Mayo Clinic was that the patient's tumor was thought to be inoperable due to the size(size of a cantaloupe). It was recommended that she come back to Rapid City to continue her care and start her chemotherapy to shrink the tumor.
After 7 months and 4 different cycles of chemotherapy the tumor continues to progress. Follow up imaging showed continued disease progression. a repeat tumor biopsy that was done mid February that her molecular profiling and genomic testing she does have a gene mutation. From this point forward she is only given purely palliative therapy, in which is not curable and unlikely be able to get surgical therapy and will likely not survive this malignancy.
