I want to thank my family and friends for your support these last thirty years I have suffered from kidney disease as I endured dialysis and the additional medical problems that came up including heart disease. I am thrilled to report that after a few setbacks following my second transplant this past New Year’s Day, I am feeling better than I have in years. I am slowly returning to a normal life which I hope will one day include return to full time employment.
Many have asked if I needed any financial assistance to help pay for my medical bills. I was hoping that I could manage the bills on my own but now find myself in a position where I must ask for help. Unlike the expenses from my first transplant which were covered almost completely by my private insurance and Medicare, this time around I have only have Medicare and have been charged with 20% of the total cost. I currently have unpaid medical bills of $9456.00. The disability income I live on is barely making a dent each month and I am starting to get calls from debt collectors.
