So, I'm in again! After being part of the inaugural London 100 in 2013, I'm heading off to the Olympic Park on 10th August to ride those 100 miles again. Leith Hill and Box Hill are waiting for me and the trusty steed once more. I've been sacrificing my Sunday mornings to get up at 5am and get out training with the aim that I can hit my target of 5 hours (assuming no mechanical issues or punctures - big assumption with my track record!). That's 47 minutes off my time from last year so I'm going to have to really push myself.
I had decided that after the generosity of my wonderful friends and family, raising such an amazing sum for Daisy's Dream last year, I wouldn't go seeking sponsorship this year. However, as many of you know, Tom, my eldest son is moving to a new school in September. He will be one of the first intake at Evendons Primary School. There is a chronic shortage of school places in our area and nothing was being done to address it, so a wonderful group of local parents took control and worked tirelessly to establish a new primary school with a committed and very experienced head teacher. This school will help bring an end to our children being scattered at schools all over the borough and siblings split up. It will be a hub for our community. However, the PTA is starting with next to nothing. The list of things the school requires is virtually endless and resources are tight. Therefore, I am hoping that you lovely people will sponsor me a few quid to help boost the PTA coffers and give a new school a fighting chance. Whatever you can spare will be really appreciated and put to very good use.
To further demonstrate my commitment to this cause, as well as the early morning training rides, I will personally donate £5 for every minute over 5 hours that I take to complete the ride, this is of course not accounting for mechanical issues!
