Madeline's Stem Cell Treatments

Our daughter, Madeline Jane was born on June 23, 2013 like any typical baby. The next day, she began having seizures nonstop and was transported to the local children's hospital. We then found out that she had lost oxygen and blood flow during her delivery and had severe brain damage as the result. Her official diagnosis is Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE) which is known to cause many additional health concerns. Currently, Maddie has some developmental delays particularly related to her motor skills with her diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy.  Her cognitive and language skills are still in question as well. In addition to these delays, she also has abnormal EEG readings and will continue on her seizure medications indefinitely. Throughout all of this, and the constant medical appointments, she is the happiest girl in the world! She brings joy to everyone she meets and has shown us all a strength we never knew existed. She is absolutely everything to us.

It has definitely been a struggle for our family to 'wait and see' and have no answers for Madeline's future. There are many alternative therapies and treatments available that have been known to make huge strides in development for children like her. After a lot of research, we have chosen to move forward with a stem cell treatment in Panama. We are so excited about the opportunity to try this, and there have been many children like Maddie who have made great progress from this program! However, of course, health insurance does not pay for these. We hate asking for hand outs and this is all a bit difficult for us, but knowing that we have tried everything we can to give our Maddie the best life possible and all the opportunities in the world is what is most important to us.
