Funeral Expenses for Baby James

Dear Friends and Neighbors,
On Saturday night the unthinkable and unexpected happened to our dear friends and neighbors Tiago and Carolina Sancho. One of their five month old baby boys, James, suffered a cardiac arrest while sleeping. James was without oxygen for 40 minutes until paramedics were able to bring his heart rate back. He was taken to Primary Children's Hospital where Tiago and Carolina learned that the damage done to his brain was irreversible.
On Sunday morning the Sancho family gathered one last time in the hospital while Pedro (4) and Thomas (5 mo) said their goodbyes to their brother James. Carolina described the experience as heavenly and sublime as they shared those precious final moments together.
It is miraculous how the tone of agony, grief, and confusion felt by Tiago and Carolina immediately turned to hope, gratitude, and love when they learned that James was a perfect candidate to donate his very healthy and strong organs to other children and families in need of a miracle. The perspective and clarity of mind demonstrated by Tiago and Carolina since has been such an inspiration to countless people within their sphere of influence. The Sancho family learned today that James is a donor match for his kidneys, liver, and heart. He will also contribute to critical cancer research. He is a hero who will bring new life and hope to others!
We as a community who have been strengthened by Tiago and Carolina by how well they have handled this unspeakable tragedy will never be able to take away the pain, sorrow, and loss; however, we can relieve the financial burdens they now face. Please consider a generous contribution toward the unexpected funeral expenses for our hero baby James.
Should the contributions exceed the medical expenses, we also desire to help the Sancho family heal from this harrowing experience by sending them on a special family trip to their most cherished place, Porto de Galinhas, Brazil.
