Help out our family

Hi everyone. I have never used social media to reach out for help but my family has been affected by cancer and I’m reaching out to my friends and family for assistance. As some of you know, my daughter gave birth to my 2nd grandchild a few weeks ago. Erin is recovering from her C-section and my newest grandson, Koa, is doing well, however a few days after they got home Erin’s long-time boyfriend, Luis, started feeling sick. He went to UPMC with flu-like symptoms. His condition deteriorated to the point that he needed to be flown to Hershey Medical Center and was placed into the ICU with double pneumonia. It was here that blood results indicated the presence of leukemia. Luis was placed on a ventilator, received several blood transfusions and a sample of his bone marrow was taken. The results came back positive for chronic lymphatic leukemia (CLL) . After a very difficult week Luis was taken off of the ventilator and his lungs are much better. He’s been transferred to the cancer unit and is beginning treatment. He is beginning occupational and physical therapy to regain the strength to walk on his own. Luis has a long fight ahead of him and will not be able to work for the foreseeable future, but he is a strong young man and will fight as hard as he can to recover to be there for Erin and the kids. Erin has been a trooper, trying to hold things together but it’s been difficult to say the least. She’s recovering from surgery, holding down things at home, tending to her 2 ½ year old and 3 week old sons, the dogs and trying to be there to support Luis in the hospital as much as possible. As is the case with many young couples, money is tight. They could really use some help with that. We have decided to start a Go-Fund Me account for Luis to help offset some of his medical bill and help with household expenses. I know that times are tough for a lot of people and if you’re not able to help financially, that’s totally understandable. If that’s the case if you wouldn’t mind offering up a prayer or two for their young family that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all.
