What people do not often realize about the cancer battle is that getting through treatment and surgeries are not the only part of the battle. After those things are done the battle to keep up with the medical bills that come pouring in is a harsh reality about surviving. Many survivors find themselves asking "who really wins when we survive?" Doctors, hospitals, specialists, labs and the like all come pounding on the door for payment and are very inflexible or understanding. Cancer survivors do not have time to recuperate before they start getting the collection notices in spades. So, while I have survived the treatment and the surgeries (one more to go) I am now strugling to keep afloat with all the medical bills. In order to save my credit last year I rolled all my medical bills into one loan to have one manageable payment to deal with and have been keeping up with that one- now on top of that I am receiving more medical bills making it harder and harder to keep up with all the payments and still maintain a household.
