NYC: Buying masks, scrubs & gowns for doctors
Donation protected
Help us raise money to independently buy masks, gloves and gowns for ER staff (doctors, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and nurses) and help those doctors and nurses already sick or quarantined. All equipment will go directly to NYC ER doctors and nurses (see below update) who are desperately asking/searching for these items. The most important defense against transmitting the virus is a face mask, scrubs and a gown.
While they are in short supply in the USA, they're still available directly from manufacturers and can arrive within 7 days.
Problem:
American doctors and nurses don't have enough personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect themselves and other patients from contracting Covid-19. As a result, ER doctors and nurses are quickly becoming infected or are quarantined trying to not contaminate their family members. Some are having difficulty getting food.

While this fundraiser is targeting NYC doctors and nurses, several doctors at hospitals outside of NYC have reached out desperately looking for equipment as well. I've spent $1,053.58 of GoFundMe donations to purchase and mail: 100 N95 masks to Johns Hopkins Hospital and 90 N95 masks to La Porte Hospital in Indiana. Going forward, I'm going to help other people start their own GoFundMe campaigns in their city and link them up with my suppliers directly as it's too hard logistically for me to manage multiple state distributions. I've expanded the recipients of this fundraiser to include non-ER doctors (many doctors who focus on elective operations are now working in the ER).

How it works?
GoFundMe collects the money from your generous donations. GoFundMe transfers the money they’ve received, less a small service fee, into a joint account held by me Bartek Ringwelski and Marija Ringwelski (organizer's wife). Those funds are going to pay for PPE purchased on personal credit cards and PayPal accounts of Bartek and Marija.
The purchased items are coming from oversees manufacturers and domestic suppliers, and are all going directly to doctors and nurses working at NYC hospitals, including Cornell Weil, Brookdale, and Elmhurst. A small percentage of items will be sent to doctors outside of NYC (e.g., Johns Hopkins). Receipts and all other appropriate documentation will be received, reviewed and retained, and a summary of all purchases will be posted this fundraiser. As items are delivered to doctors, I will post pictures of deliveries.
