Cathy Needs Our Help

Donation protected
Greetings friends and family. The time has come to seek help from you and the world wide web. My mother Cathy(65), her sisters, and myself, her son are asking for your help.
Several years ago Cathy was diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment. Over the last few months her conditioned has rapidly worsened and she now suffers full blown dementia. We recently learned that mom has not been paying her rent and utilities, at the same time neglecting any physical aliments. Her condition has progressed to the point that she needs to reside in an assisted living community. To make the situation more complicated, her sisters all live out of state, as do I.
She works at Whole Foods in University Heights, Ohio where she has prepared fruits and vegetables for the past 5 years. I was employed there when my mother also became an employee and was instantly loved by her coworkers. This fact that they were aware of her condition is the reason she was able to stay with them so long. They look out for her and for that we are truly grateful. Unfortunately,  it is time to prepare for her immediate future.

For those who might not know who Cathy Caminti is, please allow me to share. My mother was born and raised in Deering, Maine and eventually graduated from Deering High School in 1972. She met my father and I arrived 2 years later. Mom has 3 sisters and I am their only offspring out of all 4 of them. Crazy right?! After a bit a traveling we settled in Cleveland, Ohio in 1983. She worked at Thistledown Race Track back in the day when North Randall and Randall Park Mall were thriving areas. It was only when she joined Whole Foods did she leave the race track. Whole Foods was a pleasant change, as the track had slashed her pay to nothing and worse, took her health insurance.  Once with Whole Foods, she eventually moved across the street where she currently resides, a factor that has kept her employed this long. But her ability to continue working has to come to an end.

She just recently was involved in a car accident, the police ticketed her and discover that her license plates are expired, she had let them lapse. At the same time she has failed to pay her car insurance, so the courts have suspended her license. We have sold her car but it was just enough to offset her ticket fines.

Our first priority is to get her into a facility as soon as possible. Currently Cathy cannot prepare food for herself and has been bringing prepared food home. She lives alone and we are worried about her safety outside of a facility.

Someone has to be there to help get her into a facility and then take care tying up her loose ends, canceling her lease, etc. Flight expenses from California to Cleveland (son) and Florida to Cleveland (sister) at a minimum

As for her stay in a facility, her Social Security checks will still leave her short a few hundred dollars a month (based on the average retirement costs in the Cleveland Metro area). Cathy has no retirement savings to rely on and Social Security will be her only source of income.

With every bit of gratitude there is,  a sincere Thank You for your time and contributions.
