So you've stumbled across our page and you're probably wondering the same thing. "Why should I give my money to you? Who are you?"

We hope our video gave you a good idea of how we came together. But in case you're not into watching videos :P, we'll explain who we are here.

We think the four members of our band together are the perfect combination of youth and experience to create a product that sounds like the music of today without losing it's authenticity. We think this type of music is missing from today's industry. When recording was all tape, you couldn't fake being a musician. If you hit a wrong note, you did the whole song again. If you just weren't that great of a singer, well, you didn't make it. But the days of going into a studio and recording over and over until you got it perfect are gone. Technology has made the music process easy.

Before you start thinking we're all 'old farts' longing for the past and bashing technology, let us stop you. Having a young singer who when we reference a song asks "what year did that come out?" and who is forever concerned about sounding current, keeps us in check. In fact, she may be the only thing keeping us from going complete 90s cover band on you! :P. In all seriousness, we remember 'the way things were' but we appreciate and embrace the positive changes technology has made to the industry and how it has opened the recording process up to people like us, who don't have tens of thousands of dollars to pour into studio time.

So what are we complaining about? Well, technology's positive may be it's greatest weakness. The ability to create "perfect" music on a low budget has made the industry open to anyone. You don't have to sing, just T-pain your voice. If you can't play any instruments; use loops, arps, or hire session musicians. If you're not good at making up backing vocals, plug in a harmonizer and let it do it for you. Music slowly becomes less about authenticity and talent and more about who can make the coolest sounds with their computer.

Cookie-cutter songs come out of this "pop machine." If you're beautiful and have a magnetic personality, technology can fix the rest. But the downside is that every song sounds the same. Yes, it sounds good, but it has no soul, nothing that makes it unique, nothing that will make the same people who love it now, want to play it at their granddaughter's wedding.

We think the industry is ready for a change. There are a few artists popping up who have a sound that's stripped of all processing ( Adele, The Lumineers, etc.) and the world has embraced them. But it seems to be all or nothing: either super processed or completely stripped. Why can't we have both? Why can't we combine the best of technology with the authenticity of the past? Why not have a song that sounds like today's pop music only with lyrics that mean something and musicians who can recreate the sound live?

We think our band can be one of the pioneers(because we're not quite conceited enough to believe we're the only ones ;) of a techno/retro sound. We write a song, develop it with live instruments, record it and then produce it using technology to enhance the sound. We want to make a new standard. That music not only has to sound good, but every single piece of it has to be good and meaningful.

Saying that our band creates music that is different from everything else in today's industry is quite a lofty claim. However, we're asking for your money, so we'd better be confident in what we're asking you to support.

Technology has made the process a lot cheaper, but it has by no means eliminated the costs completely. The first thing people ask us when we show them our music is, "why aren't you doing something with this?" We don't blame them for asking. No one knows how a song goes from an idea in your bedroom to a number one hit. Heck, even we don't fully understand. But we do know it takes talent, a little bit of luck, hard work, and unfortunately, money.

So your next question is probably "what exactly am I paying for? What could possibly be so expensive about releasing an album?" Well, we'll be glad to tell you :)

Our goal is to create a minimum 10 track (but hopefully 15) album of original music that doesn't just sound good, but sounds good enough to compete with the top forty because we want to release it commercially and let it compete with the top forty. In order to do this, you have to come as a complete package. You can't just walk up to a radio station with a demo and hope they'll see your potential. You have to have everything ready: your image, your album, your gear, your social media, your videos.

And this is where the money starts adding up. To complete our album, we need studio time (to record and mix) and mastering. Good studios charge around 85 an hour and good mastering engineers may charge about 200 per track. In order to cut down on studio time, we want to make one time investments into our home studio. We will purchase a few stable pieces of equipment, so we can spend 30 or 40 hours on our song if we need to without paying for all that time.

This is by far the bulk of our budget but we also need album artwork, logos, promotion/website photos, behind the scenes pictures, performance photos and videos, one video for our lead single, an electronic press kit, a booking agent, band gear (shirts, business cards, posters, flyers, any promotional materials), CD duplication, album packaging, online subscriptions fees to sites like itunes, copyright/publishing fees, contract and lawyer fees, the list goes on and on and the price keeps adding up.

And so we're back to the beginning, why should you give your money to us? Hopefully, you understand more about us and where your money will go, but we know that's not all it takes. You have to believe us and believe in us. You have to want to be a part of our journey from the beginning. You have to stick your neck out for something that may ultimately fail.

We understand that each donation means one more person has put their faith in us. We don't take it lightly. We work every single day, and every backer, every facebook like, every person who gives us a discount adds to the pressure we feel to succeed because ultimately, we don't do this for ourselves. We do it for you! We do it because we think the world will benefit from hearing what we have to say.

That's what music, art is about. Creating something that somehow qualifies a human experience or emotion into something we can relate to and enjoy. So what do you say? Will you help us write the next chapter?
