Butch's Bucket List

This past April my father, Butch was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I could write a novel about the disbelief & devastation that has surrounded my family since we found out the news - but I'm going to try my best to keep it short.
Vietnam vet, machinest for 35+ years, husband of 43 & father of 36, my dad worked hard his whole life to give his family a good life and one better than his own. To this day, he is still the frugal, minimalist man he has been since birth. I have encouraged him over and over to travel and see all of the places he has always wanted. I believe his depression since the diagnoses has immobilized any want or efforts to live his life to the fullest. So in my truest fashion, have taken it upon myself to make things happen.
Despite claiming he would never go through chemotherapy himself after taking care of my mother four years ago when she was diagnosed with appendix cancer, he has given it his best and has recently finished his 6th and maybe final treatment. Unlike my mother, there unfortunately is no remission in his future. In the meantime, while Butch continues to fight the good fight, I will make it my mission to give back to the man who gave me his all.
I am requesting a maximum of $4000 to fulfill a wish of my father's; Motorsports Park in New Orleans offers a 1 on 1, hands on race track experience.
Seeing my dad when I rented him a Porsche for Father's day, was the first time I'd seen a smile on him in months. He said the only thing that could have possibly made it better (besides owning it) was being able to drive it on a racetrack.
I ultimately plan to book for the end of July. Hoping to raise most of the money fairly soon and in time for his 66th birthday; the 23nd of the month.
The racetrack package itself is $2700. Airfare & hotel for mom & dad at approximately $800. Food, transportation and walking around money approiximated at $500. I'd love for this to be a complete surprise to my dad.
