Buster Brown Emergency Surgery Fund

Donation protected

Hi! My name is Buster Brown and I am an 8-month-old Doberman. I am the happiest, most friendly dog you will ever meet.. but I also like to get into my share of mischief.

I guess I ate something that I shouldn’t have and it managed to get stuck in my body and either tore something or is creating a very serious blockage. This has made me really sick to the point where I am septic. I haven’t been able to eat or keep any fluids down and I am now too weak to walk or move at all.

My owner rushed me to the emergency room with no time to spare. After some x-rays we were told I needed emergency surgery right away or I would not survive for long. The cost for the procedure and follow-up care necessary for me to survive came to $18,549.69!

My owner called around frantically, applying for financing and doing everything possible to raise the money. He pulled out all of the money from his bank accounts, maxed-out credit cards, and borrowed money from friends. .

He managed to put together $13,400 and promised to pay the remaining $5,149.69 by the time I am released, assuming I pull through. They gave me a 50/50 chance to survive the surgery, but explained that if I made it through I could most likely expect a full recovery and a normal, healthy life. But the clock was ticking and they needed to remove this obstruction immediately as my organs were showing signs of failure.

I was rushed into surgery with a team of doctors and they went to work removing the object. My owner waited nervously for any news about how the procedure had gone and whether I was able to pull through.

A few hours later the doctors had removed an entire sock from about halfway down my large intestine and my vital signs began to rapidly improve.

It’s a good thing that I am such a healthy dog normally because my recovery is now going very well. I’m not out of the woods yet, but I am expected to be able to go home in about 3 or 4 more days.

My owner (his name is Jaime) loves me very much and could not bare to let me die just because of the high cost of this procedure. Money comes and goes, but when your friends and family need you and there is a life at stake, you do whatever it takes.

Jaime had a pet Doberman a few years before he adopted me and she was struck by a car while being watched by a friend. She was less than two years old and he couldn’t bare to lose another pet so young…

Jaime was not prepared for an expense of this magnitude and now is in debt to a lot of creditors and individuals who he borrowed money from to afford the surgery.

He could really use the help of the community right now as this will take many years to pay back the money it cost to save my life!

He is so happy that he was able to receive the help from those who were able to assist with loans and that he was able to get me the treatment when all hope had been lost.

I promise to be good and I won’t eat any more socks (who would have thought something so tasty could be so dangerous?) !!!

For every $100+ donation my owner will send you a custom laser-engraved wooden plaque signed by ME thanking you for contributing to saving my life! Just include the name you would like written on the plaque and your mailing address and you will receive your token of my appreciation in about two or three weeks (..and don’t worry! My owner makes the plaques himself and 100% of your donations will go towards the cost of my treatment!

I will update you all on my recovery and keep you posted on how I am doing as I continue to heal and hopefully return back home very soon!

Thank you for taking the time to learn about Buster Brown’s plight and please send him your prayers as he recovers from surgery.

I am so happy that he has pulled through and a special thank you goes out to Bill Lyons, Apryl Svetinsky, Scratchpay, and Access Specialty Animal Hospital for all their help in saving Buster Brown’s life!

Buster Brown lives in Venice, CA and is a frequent visitor to the local Westminster Dog Park.
