I’m so incredibly excited to tell you all that I got accepted into a business program in ITALY! I will be spending 4 months in Florence where I will be completing an internship in International Business. Ever since I was little I’ve been dreaming of an opportunity like this and the chance has finally arrived. Growing up I never had the opportunity to travel for long periods of time because of sports, but I’m finally in a position where I can get out there and learn in a new country! The program begins on January 3rd where I will be spending one-month in language and immersion classes followed by a three-month internship. After a month of classes, I will begin my internship at an organization where I will have to use the Italian language in daily business routines (wish me luck).
For those of you who know my family, you know how much of an impact my grandma had on my life. She always preached doing what makes me happy, and I know she’s looking down and smiling at me listening to her advice. Her Italian heritage has inspired me to explore and learn about our roots. I know that in each Italian work of art—I’ll see her beauty, in each cobblestone road—I’ll remember her support, in each Italian meal—I’ll taste her hospitality, and in each brutally honest native Italian I meet—I’ll remember her liveliness. She will be with me each part of the journey, that’s the only way I want to do it.
World Endeavors has set me up with housing, a company to complete an unpaid internship with, and contacts in Italy to aid me in the process. Other than those things, I am obligated to provide everything else for my trip. I have to purchase flights, pay the program fee, buy food, and pay for transportation to and from my internship every day. I know that that I am taking a large weight upon my shoulders when applying for a program like this, but I have an immense amount of peace and faith that I am doing the right thing. I am leaning on the support of my family and friends because I know that I cannot do this alone. Below is an outline of the expenses that I will need assistance with while I attend the experience of a lifetime. Please consider supporting me on this crazy beautiful journey I am about to take.
