Hokkaido Language School Airfare Fundraiser

Hello! My name is David Broughton, a current collegiate junior majoring in International Affairs at the University of Colorado Boulder. For over 3 years, I have been learning Japanese language as a part of my major’s requirements. Japanese language is also one of my greatest passions and I hope to become fluent in the near future so that I can use Japanese in at some point during my career after graduation. I realized the only way to truly become fluent in a language is to travel to the language’s homeland. Recently, I had applied to and got accepted into a Language program in Sapporo, Hokkaido, a rural metropolis in Northern Japan. While I can cover the program costs on my own, being able to fund airfare in addition to the program costs would be impossible to fund on my own due to the nature of my limited income as a college student. Therefore, I wanted to create this fundraiser in hopes that raising the money needed for a flight  could become a little more feasible. I truly believe that my going to this language school, I will be able to advance my language skills more than I ever could than trying to learn only in America. I also hope to use Japanese in my career goal in becoming a foreign service officer in in the US Department of State. Every little bit helps.
