Business hardship fund

My name is Chris Brown, the owner and founder of Acorn Networking. We are a business networking group with a difference and supporting those primarily in business start up and within the first five years of business.

Many new business start ups were doing really well in business prior to the Covid lockdown and since it has been detrimental to the growth of their business. may of which have not been entitled to financial support due to the length of time in business.

Acorn Networking supports as many businesses as possible and due to this, we offer financial support to businesses up to £5000 on an interest free repayment. Due to Covid 19, we have seen more financial support being offered to help keep businesses afloat and it has now come a time where Acorn Networking has used its budget to help businesses in need.

As Acorn has been charging minimum fees over the past six months to cover basic operational outgoings, we are no longer now able to support businesses or charities alike.  This is where we are seeking help to assist more business start ups continuing to grow and not close. Small businesses effects families and food on the table, some of which I have know to turn to food banks and are eating food on rations.

I have learnt so much over the years of business networking from all over the UK, all of whom have different stories to tell and techniques to share. This is one benefit of business networking, we learn and grow together, sharing experiences of business running and preventing pitfalls of which many businesses fall foul to.

I have always sat there in my chair taking in all the little things that have been said and ways of supporting, I always offer my hand to help others. I cannot play God in these hard times and cannot help everyone, but helping as many as I can makes the biggest of differences. However, I am always hurt by the desperation to secure every single client, often going so low down on prices to justify the wait that they're barely compensated for their hard work. People are working below value and not covering costs just to get turnover coming in. This means many are working for free.

With Covid-19 forcing changes to the way we work, some business still have not opened as they cannot implement covid safety procedures. This is what Acorn wants to assist with for businesses plus additional marketing to get them going again properly without having to work for nothing.

I hope to raise £25,000  so I can give each business up to £5,000 to help them through these hard times and hopefully allow them to have a better foundation for when they reopen or maintain clients. This will help at least five businesses and funds will be allocated on an application basis so we know exactly where the money will be spent.

100% of funds donated will go to these worthy businesses. Think local, think families, think food on the table.

Please, help me to help my community and the East Midlands.

Many thanks,

Chris :-)
