#bushfireblocks - Quilts for Australia

Thank you to everyone who has helped us so far by sending #bushfireblocks from around the world! We have been truly humbled by the love and support we have received from all over the world.

We have received blocks from over 30 countries. Our current block tally is 15,028.

In order to get the #bushfireblocks project to completion we need to raise funds for batting, backing and binding fabric, as we have now exhausted our Wollongong Modern Quilt Guild funds that we pledged for the effort. Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic situation, we are no longer able to use our extensive network of volunteers in Australia to courier the quilt packs to our volunteer quilters in NSW and other states across Australia. For this reason we have also added a small budget for postage.

If we get to the end of the #bushfireblocks project and find we have overestimated the cost to complete, we will donate the remaining funds to the Australian Red Cross Bushfire Relief Fund.

We hope to have over 750 completed quilts ready by Christmas to gift to the people who suffered the loss of their homes in the 2019-2020 bushfire season.
