Bushelcraft Farm Hoophouse and Well Water Project

Hi, my name is Jon Zirkle, and I'm fundraising for Bushelcraft Farm, a small educational farm in Elkhart, IN with significant resource needs. I co-founded this farm beginning in 2020, and it's amazing what we've accomplished despite a pandemic, not owning land, and wild weather events the past two years. At present, our farm needs a power source to get well water to the field and needs to put a down payment on a hoophouse that must be completed by September 2022. Prices have gone up!  Of course that's not all we need. Our first-ever high school internship (with six local interns!) is wrapping up in late May, and we need additional funding to cover supplies and staff wages to administer the program. We also greatly need small-scale tools to improve our efficiency and funds for paying the rest of our insurance premiums, land rent, outdoor portable toilets, and the bill for our accountant to file our taxes. But the main focus is securing funding for a hoophouse and powering the well.
Your contributions can make it possible to raise high-quality food for a local food pantry and to members of our upcoming community-supported agriculture (CSA) program. In 2021, we had access to well water, but lacked the funds to power the well. It was a very challenging year without the tools and resources we needed to thrive.
So far, 2022 has proven more promising.   Several individual donors have made pledges towards our internship program, and the Community Foundation of Elkhart County granted us $10,000 in January to help us launch our internship program. Also, we have secured funding from the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) to reimburse us for a portion of the cost of a professionally installed hoophouse, but this hoophouse must go up by September, and we have to have half the funds upfront to move forward with the project.
More recently, we've received funding from Interra Cares Foundation, Waste-Away Group Ltd., and Zimmer Biomet, but there's a long way to go to raise an additional $15,000 by June 1. We need the help of individuals, companies, and other organizations to reach our goals!
