Burst The Bubble youth-led activism

Hi, my name is Vishnu. I’m the head of fundraising at Burst the Bubble UK (BTB), a school student activist organisation aiming to raise awareness and encourage youth action against injustice and human rights. All our members are currently studying in high schools across the country and age between 15-18. We all dedicate our free time to campaign for all manner of topics from the Uyghur Genocide to Religious Tolerance in the UK.

We run an ambassador programme to help share our knowledge and guide the next generation of human rights activists. Ambassadors create change in their own communities and also on a national scale. We provide them with a platform to campaign about the topics they are passionate about.

Our biggest campaigns have been around the Uyghur Muslim Genocide in China, we have interviewed over 20 Uyghurs, running campaigns on the Genocide Amendment and Boycott of the Bejiing Winter Olympics, as well as our Free Ekpar and Find My Family Campaign, which were together seen over 3.5 million times across social media platforms. Our campaigns have been featured in NBC, Foreign Policy and the BBC, as well as many other outlets. We worked alongside Rayhan Asat, a US based Uyghur Attorney and current Yale World Fellow, to raise awareness about the plight of her brother, Ekpar. We also helped one of our team members, Dilnaz Kerim, who is an 18 year old Uyghur girl raise awareness about her family who she has been told by the Chinese Embassy in Britain does not exist. We launched our campaign on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme where Dilnaz wrote to the then Foreign Secretary, Dominic Raab asking for help to find her family.

Burst the Bubble are making strides in raising awareness of various human rights injustices such as the Uyghur Genocide, but we need your help! On the 25th October I will be running 13miles from West Harrow to the Chinese Embassy in Westminster in hopes to raise money for our activist group. The funds will be used
