Burren Wilderness Project

About me
My name is Cearbhúil Ní Fhionnghusa, mum of Ruben and India.  I am originally from a Golden Vale dairy farm in Effin, Co. Limerick!!! but am now living with my 2 children outside Lisdoonvarna in Co. Clare.

Last year we bought some wild Burren land near Doolin in Co. Clare. The beauty speaks for itself!

I am a homeschooling mum, Irish speaker, wild food forager, seaweed gatherer, gardener and natural cosmetics maker.
I am passionate about my role as a woman on the Earth. And I want to share my gifts with you.
My desire to talk about the connection between humans and the Earth is constant - I never shut up about it!

I did a series with TG4's gardening programme Garraí Glas a few years back on wild food foraging and cosmetic making and am currently making a series of wild medicinal tinctures from The Burren wild flowers and herbs.  I am also involved in a series of retreats in the Irish Language called WILD IRISH RETREAT where connecting with nature and speaking Irish get married.
That is what I love most sharing my love of wild plant alchemy with others.
Please see www.wildirishretreat.com to get an idea of what my work is about.

My vision is simple!
1. To bring people of all ages into the Burren Wilderness to listen and learn from nature, to STOP DOING simply BE! with me!
2. To share my gifts with a wider audience  - wild food foraging, natural remedy making, natural cosmetic making.
3. To offer a space for children to learn in their only natural environment.
4. To have foraging workshops in the Irish language and also Irish speaking work days and gatherings on the land so everyone whatever the level can speak Irish in a fun way.

This fundraiser was initially set up:
To support my vision on the land.  Since I started this gofundme project, we have built a small hazel structure with a beautiful homemade wood burning stove where we have  had music gatherings, whittling days and plant spirit medicine healing.  We also have a lovely wooden compost toilet now here too.  This space is for wild school get togethers, musical gatherings, irish speaking circles and also I hope to have a red tent for women to come together on the new moon and share time and space together.

In the Summer I will start my nature connection walks, and Irish speaking foraging walks.  These walks will be gift economy based where you can gift me something in exchange for what you have received.
See Charles Eisensteins talk to understand The Gift Economy : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6S1egXWYwXo This is what I believe in and I want to explore using the gift economy in my work.

I decided to write this gofundme proposal  to help get set up initially on the land. All my life i have dreamt of working on the land and connecting with people in nature. I also wanted to put my vision on paper.   I want to create a space where people can come and just be in nature, no development, no concrete buildings, just wild flowers, trees, the odd visit from the wild goats,  have an outdoor seaweed bath, plant spirit medicine healings, eat some wild food drink some wild tea around an open fire outside. Just breathe and receive healing from Mother Earth.
Your support is already appreciated. I look forward to working on this project. If you are interested in helping out  do get in touch!

I want to make a difference in the world. I want to inspire you to use wild food and to grow your own. I want to eat seaweed with you! I also want to stress the importance of spending time in nature and connecting with the land.

I want to speak Irish with you!

We all have such busy lives.  Let's get together again and sit around a fire and eat wild food together and play with our children.

If you fund me - you are welcome to come and walk the land with me and I will teach you about wild plants.

I fell deeply in love with the land, Danu as I call her, from the moment we met.

I am now grateful to be in a position to share my gifts and my vision in such a sacred and special place.

My gratitude for Danu and the people who helped make it happen is deep rooted.

This is the beginning of the journey. This story is not just about me and my family.  It's about human beings reconnecting with nature together, rediscovering our native tongue, reinventing ourselves, taking another look at why we are on this planet... listening and being  with The Earth.  This my calling.
We need each other to grow and be inspired - Nature wants us to connect.  We need each other to know how.

Go on fund me!!!!!!!
