My mom was born with the most bubbly and energetic personality. Burna's positivity is contagious, and her happy attitude is unfailing. Her joy has continued, even following her diagnosis with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) at 30 years old. During her journey with MS, she's grown more dependent on wheels, and will now be using a shiny new power wheelchair! (The grandbabies rejoice that her scooter is up for grabs!)
Unfortunately, transporting a power wheelchair is difficult. Transferring in and out of regular vehicles is even harder, especially without the aid of a vehicle designed for wheelchair users. Enter the Wheelchair Van ! A wheelchair van would not only afford Burna more independence while traveling with friends and family, but it would also relieve the strain on Gene to physically transfer her for every short (or longggg) drive.
Burna and Gene have been invaluable members of their community throughout the past 40 years. As elementary school teachers, their commitment to providing quality education and care to every child in their classrooms has positively influenced countless families and individuals. Now it is our turn to give back to them; let's care for a beautiful lady who has shown so much love to each of us.
Wheelchair Vans are incredible vehicles - the floors are dropped for easier entry, and the vehicle actually lowers itself when the ramp folds out. Anyone with a set of wheels can roll in all by themselves! And, of course, there is ample space for maneuvering...or doing somersaults if you're a little grandbaby! The cost of these vehicles is also incredible, as quality wheelchair vans cost between $45,000-$70,000. Friends, this is where you come in!
