My family has been through a lot since my Father, Sister, her Boyfriend and my parent's dog were injured during a boat explosion at Yale Lake on October 3, 2020 . We are eternally grateful to all that were there that day that stepped up to help them get to safety and to all our friends and family who have had us in there thoughts and prayers. I have started this go fund me due to my Father currently being unable to work (or get out of bed for the most part). We are keeping our fingers crossed that his insurance will do the right thing and that we will not have to try to figure out the $122,000 he will need for his surgery if they CHOOSE not to cover it due to the only burn center in Oregon being "out of network". His 3rd degree burns are extensive and cover the majority of his legs and feet, his legs have developed an infection and he has not been rx'd oral antibiotics, instead, they gave him one for a topical ointment, as of now the insurance has decided they would only cover 3 of them, they cost almost $200 per rx and it only lasts up to 2 changes eith his dressings, they have had to pay out of pocket. They were told gauze for the dressings would be billed to insurance and delivered to them, that has yet to happen. Each time the dressings are changed it takes 4 - 4"x5yd rolls of cotton gauze (this is hard to come by in large quantities, Walgreens has the equivalent to 2 rolls per box of this amount for $8.99 each when they are in stock). They are trying to refinance their home to get the payments lowered so they will be able to make the payments easier while my dad isn't working as vacation pay will run out, but as of right now they are $1,700 per month not including their utilities. Other unusual expenses they have incurred so far have been copays for out of network specialists, rx's and will likely be getting the ambulance bill soon for an approximate 50 mile ambulance ride. I know this is a really hard time for a lot of people financially right now and I know many people are getting ready for the holidays with their own families, I know not everyone will be able to give, so if you cannot we also appreciate thoughts, prayers and shares.
