Burks Family Relief Fund Housing Crisis

Goal: To give my children a home and a chance to build the future they deserve.

My thoughts and prayers are with my children who have been so strong. They have seen and suffered more than any child should, but these dark times has brought our family closer together.

I’m a mom of six and I'm raising funds for a new lease. My main goal has always been to love and support my children and rebuild our lives. By 2020 we were on the homeowner path, about four months away from closing on a five bedroom home. We couldn’t have been more excited. But due to COVID-19 we would never step foot inside that home. Around April I was furloughed from my job as a concierge supervisor. 

At this time my current rental has been sold and I’m doing everything I can to find another home. I only have days to move. I'm trying hard not to panic, but in reality this is an incredibly challenging market. It's especially challenging for my family because when I was younger I made a lot of mistakes, which led to a 2008 felony conviction. Although I am a much different person now and have learned from my mistakes, my conviction from more than a decade ago still disqualifies me from public/affordable housing.

I hate to ask for help, but I have no other choice. My children and I need a stable, safe home. I hope you can help us find one.
