So many people have asked how they can help?!?! HERE IS THE WAY. Using GoFundMe will directly benefit the Burkett family and will enable them to help the community they have come to love so much. When you live in a small town, friends become family. If you know the Burkett Family at all, you know of their generosity towards others.
Overwhelmed after a heart wrenching call with my lifelong friend Megan Hammond Burkett, I decided to start a GoFundMe Page for the Burkett Family and for their Coastal Joe Vacation Rental Company. With the devastation on the Cape, it could take them a year to be back in business.
Insurance should kick in, but they need immediate help now. Gift cards won't work because their town and the next towns over have been wiped out. They can't go to the store to buy supplies.
No one has the basic needs right now. No gas, no power, no water, no sewage. THEY NEED: Propane, charcoal, gasoline for generators, 50-100 foot heavy duty extension cords, toilet paper, paper plates, paper towels, plastic utensils & cups, flashlights, batteries, toiletries, personal hygiene products, water, pet food for dogs & cats, cat litter, diapers, baby wipes, cleaning supplies, contractor grade large garbage bags, & bottled water, non-perishable food (think bread, peanut butter, crackers, apples, et.) They are driving back and forth from Tallahassee to purchase supplies.
My prayer is that this could be helpful to them while they wait for insurance and outside help to begin. Can you help?
