Burglars Strike Ovations Theatre!

On the night of Saturday, December 17, beloved childrens' theater, Ovations Performing Arts Center, was broken into, ransacked, and burglarized, days before Christmas and their Holiday show. All of their microphones and spotlights were stolen, along with many other items such as speakers, instruments, laptops, electronics, cashbox, power tools, props, and costumes.
Ovations is a non-profit performing arts center for children 5-17. Ovations was started by its director, Charla Moore, whose mission is to create a positive and safe family atmosphere to help lift and support one another through the love of performance art, embracing kids of all backgrounds, shapes, colors, and sizes. Ovations also offer scholarships to children in need. Much blood, sweat, and tears have gone into Charla's dream of starting a non-profit children's theater. This summer she was finally able to open her own theater in Laguna Niguel and has been continuing to build out the theater while also holding rehearsals and putting on shows. In addition, she started a musical theater team that performs at community events, charitable organizations, and senior centers.
I met Charla a year and a half ago, after trying different musical theater places for my daughters. I recognized immediately how caring and passionate she is about teaching and helping kids do what they love. She has created an amazing community of kids and families, who are welcoming and supportive of everyone. My heart is breaking for her because I know how hard she works for these kids and how much Ovations means to her. It is beyond maddening to think of someone stealing from and violating what is so obviously a children's theater.
Our hope is to still be able to put on the children's Holiday show next week. Please consider a donation to help replace the stolen equipment because the show must go on!
