We are the Okotoks Volleyball Club 14 & Under Team Ice. We are a group of 12 girls (Teah, Emma, Reese, Jordyn, Adelle, Jessa, Jessica, Ashlynn, Kathleen, missing: Vanessa, Katherine & Kate) who are trying to raise enough money to make our debut appearance at the 2013 Western Canadians in Abbotsford, BC May 9th - 12th, 2013. Western Canadians is attended by 92, 14 & under volleyball clubs from across the country. We expect the competition to be fierce but believe that as a team we can accomplish greatness!!!
This tournament will cap off the completion of our 1st year under the guidance of our coach Sean Latta and will serve as a building block for our plan to peek at the 2015 Canadian Open Championships hosted in Calgary May 14 - 19, 2015. We want to use the money raised from this site towards our travel costs. We will be heading to this tournament as an unknown underdog and are using it as an opportunity to expose us to a completely different level of competition and give us the chance to work on our mental toughness.
We have been working hard in practice since our season began in Dec. 2012. We are currently ranked 2nd in Division 2 in Alberta with our fantastic showing in Edmonton at the Premier 1 tournament in February. We won the Consolation Final at our home tournament at the beginning of March. We have 3 more tournaments ahead of us to prepare for Western Canadians. It is our expectation that we will continue to strengthen our skills and continue to gel as a team.
