Building Tiny House for Struggling Relative
This fund pays for a portion of this project. Land ($4500) + Tiny House Van ($4000).
I have a relative that is at risk of homelessness. I am keeping their identity private. They are a brilliant person with wonderful children. They've had a life of unfortunate events and systemic oppression which has lead them to this difficult time. Paying for an apartment has become too difficult. I would like to build them something that would maintain their well-being and dignity.
This story is too many people's story. Too many live on the streets or are a missed paycheck away from it, in a country where vacant houses outnumber the homeless 5 to 1. I have other friends who are struggling with some form of homelessness. I'd like this project to bring awareness to the homelessness crisis as well as provide possible solutions.
This project is not only about helping this relative, but to show people these kinds of ideas are possible, and to consider different ways of living and organizing society.
This is my first time doing anything like this. Fortunately, my best friend's dad is a carpenter and has been a huge help with giving access to his tools and advice.
Your support will go towards a portion of the expenses such as professional installation of rear child seats, electrical system, repairs, tools, and other parts needed for the build.
Professional installation of rear seats so kids can ride: $2700
Solar Electrical System: $1000
Other tools and parts: > $300
Land for parking van: $4500
We've also had to give this van some expensive repairs (I learned so much about what to look for when getting a van!).

I am in the middle of a deal purchasing some land. I will have to do some landscaping after but I think it's worth it.
