<div>Hello! I have a registered charity here in the Alentejo, Portugal, and have been rescuing and re homing dogs for nearly 20 years. Over the more recent years the number of dogs in my care has increased dramatically and on average I have 30 + dogs here at any given time, and a few cats. Some can never be re homed due to age, health or socialisation issues. Many arrive sick and it can take months to treat them and get them back to full health ready for adoption. The cost of feeding so many dogs alone is hundreds of euros each month, not to mention all the other costs, flea and tick treatments, worming and diesel to ferry backwards and forwards to my vet who is not local.
</div>
<div>I single-handedly do everything to care for all the animals and it is a lot of hard work but so rewarding when a dog or cat finally goes to their new families.
</div>
<div>I really need to create this project as in the red hot summer months when I have a sick animal I desperately need a clean, quiet and cool space, away from the dust and flies for a dog to recover or recuperate.
</div>
<div>With the recent heartbreaking rescue of Marley if he had been in a cool room he would have been more comfortable. I take so many dogs into my own house, but my house is so hot even with fans on. So my idea is to build a small room, fully insulated and with air conditioning where my sick animals can be. When a dog has an injury and there are so many flies, it is a nightmare trying to treat them and keep the wounds free of maggots. This is why I need such a space. I am extremely fortunate that I have an amazing friend who is willing to build this space for me, but I need to raise the funds for the materials.
</div>
<div>It is extremely difficult to fund everything on my own so if anyone could make a donation, even a very small one, it would be much appreciated.
</div>
<div>Thank you
</div>
