Build a K-6 school building Johnsonville, Liberia

Tax deductible
Since August of 2022, School4Schools Foundation has been supporting a new K-6 school in Lower Johnsonville, Liberia. The village has no electricity and no running water, and -- until now -- no functioning elementary school.

The school opened on Sept 20 with 25 students, and demand from the community is so strong that the school needs to build a new structure in order to accept an additional 100 students. The nearest functional school is about a two-hour walk -- each way, so most of these children are simply not getting any education.

Run by the amazing and dynamic Sonnie Lawrence of Agents of Positive Change, a Liberian non-profit dedicated to literacy, education and advocacy for girls. Sonnie grew up during the Liberian Civil War and had to teach herself to read. She wants young Liberians to improve their lives through literacy and education.

In 2021, Teresa Jennings of the LexisNexis Rule of Law Foundation organized shipment of a 40ft shipping container with school and library supplies in order to promote literacy and to support schools in the Lower Johnsonville region.

Shipped in October of 2021, the container arrived on location in May, 2022. When Terry visited the following month (and had to walk an hour to get there as the roads were washed out), local residents asked if the container/ library could be turned into a school. "Of course," she told them, "It's your program to meet your needs."

School4Schools Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity run by Teresa Jennings and Michael Bromley, has joined the effort to promote the project. We have raised and donated over $5,000 to pay for a platform and roof for the container, a perimeter fence, a digital projector, and school and playground equipment and supplies.

We also funded the children's very first field trip, as well as seasonal celebrations for the community.

A tent helps with overflow from the container and a small utility building, so we are now looking for your help to build out a new permanent school structure. The initial project budget is $7,000, and it will be built by volunteers from the local community.

Your donation will truly make a difference in the lives of impoverished Liberian children and their families.

Please donate today to School4Schools Foundation for this project.
