<div>Our names are Alan, Hannah, and Matan<span style="font-family:'-apple-system-body';">. Here is a little background of our project, and what we are trying to raise funds for:</span>

<div>Kibera is the second largest slum in the world after Mumbai, India. 1.5 million souls are living in an area the size of Central Park. These people are desperate for food, water, healthcare (medical and dental), love, and compassion. 



</div>

<div>During our most recent trip to Kenya in January 2023, we traveled with a not-for-profit NGO that has dedicated its efforts for 10 years to helping the community of Kibera. Crossing Thresholds (CT) is based in New Canaan, Connecticut has built five schools within Kibera, with over 350 children attending each school. Without these schools, children would have no opportunity for an education. The children get served one meal a day, which is usually their only meal. Children are competing with stray dogs searching for food in garbage piles. They need to pay for clean drinking water and pay to use a public bathroom. There are no government public services for sanitation, police or fire. Kibera also has over 150,000 orphaned children. STDs are rampant, with rape, and other crimes, an omnipresent state of affairs.

<div>Their homes are built from scrap wood, cardboard, and corrugated sheet metal. An 8x10 one-room structure usually houses six people. Cooking is done with a primitive stove and charcoal for fuel. Carcinogenic smoke fills their homes while cooking while toxic fumes from burning plastic fill the air throughout the day.

<div>During this trip, we treated over 250 patients in ten days. We saved the lives of several children, days away from sepsis from oral infections. We screened /diagnosed/ treated multiple dog bites, third-degree burns, fungal infections, parasitic GI infections, hypertension, diabetes, and many other non-communicable diseases. <strong>This community is in dire need of medical and dental services</strong>, healthcare workers, and volunteers. If we do not care about others, there will be no one to care for us.

<div>We plan to go back to Kenya this July to begin laying the grounds for a telemedicine clinic. We need help raising funds (501c3) for supplies- such as different medical equipment, medications, chairs, oxygen tanks, and more. We are so thankful for the donations we have received thus far.
