Build Wildlife Fencing in Park City

Tax deductible
We're almost there

In 2015, Save People Save Wildlife (SPSW) embarked upon an ambitious mission - along with our community - to raise funds to accelerate installation of Wildlife Fencing along Highway I-80. Our goal is, and always has been, to protect our citizens as well of our wildlife from deadly wildlife collisions. These incidents are far too common along this heavily trafficked corridor, but this problem IS fixable.

We're making progress. The first mile of Wildlife fencing was installed in 2016, and we also helped advocate for the Wildlife overpass that was completed Fall 2018. Despite ongoing construction in that corridor, we have seen a reduction in the number of wildlife / vehicle collisions - but we're not there yet.

We Still Have Gaps!

In our partnership with UDOT, SPSW is about to install the second mile of wildlife fencing along I-80 east of Jeremy Ranch towards Kimball Junction. Unfortunately, funding for this installation is not available from our City and County. Therefore, it is up to us, this community, to close these dangerous gaps - a goal that is well within reach.

Our Current Goal

Thanks to our generous donors, SPSW has already raised $25,000 for this next mile of wildlife fencing. We are only short $17,000 for this portion of the project. Let’s come together as a community and help fund this project in order to avoid wildlife collisions.

If just 170 people pledged $100 to this cause - we would reach our 2019 fundraising goal!

Please share this with everyone you know. Please donate. We all know what risk it is to drive that stretch of the highway during dusk and dawn - but our visitors do not. Let's keep the wild in the wild - and off our roads!!!

Thank you from all of us at Save People Save Wildlife.

About Us

Save People Save Wildlife is a Non-Profit organization (501(c)(3) that was formed in late 2015. We are a group of concerned neighbors and citizens, who are constantly facing danger to both humans, and wildlife, in a 9 mile corridor along I-80 that stretches between Parley's Summit, approaching the Park City exit, all the way to Highway 40. In this "killing zone" - we saw approximately 2 deaths each week, including Moose, Elk, Deer, Bears, and even Cougars.

This stretch of highway is extremely dangerous - so many millions of visitors and truckers drive 80 MPH during poorly lit conditions, not realizing that by the time they see a 1,600lb. Moose on the road, it is much too late.

In February of 2016, a young woman was driving Westbound on Highway 80 - she struck and killed a Moose - and nearly lost her own life. Read the story HERE

In order to save our citizens and visitors, we asked UDOT to immediately install fencing, and over / underpasses. As a result, the first mile of Wildlife fencing was installed in 2016, and we also helped advocate for Utah's very first Wildlife overpass, completed Fall 2018.

Together - we can make a difference for our community (human and wild), as well as for everyone who travels through our busy traffic corridor.
