Build HardBeauty Havens: Safe Spaces for Mama's
Donation protected
Three years ago, I began dreaming of creating HardBeauty Havens—a network of safe, healing spaces where mothers in recovery and their children could rebuild their lives. These Havens are more than just houses—they are sanctuaries of hope, stability, and opportunity.
This dream is deeply personal. When I first got sober, I had no money, no education, and no job history. I was raising four kids in a home where healing wasn’t possible. My husband, Chris, wasn’t sober at the time, and we lived in a cycle I couldn’t break. For eight and a half years, I fought to stay strong for my kids, but the environment took its toll on all of us.
Chris and I were fortunate to rebuild our lives and heal together, but I know how rare that is. For many moms in recovery, the lack of a safe space leads to relapse, trauma, and even losing their children.
That’s why I’m committed to creating HardBeauty Havens.
We’ve already raised $90,000, but we need $21,000 more to secure the first HardBeauty Haven. This home will provide a stable, nurturing environment where moms can recover alongside their children. Located near the café I recently purchased, Lake & Lantern Café, the Haven will connect mothers to jobs and a sober community—a vital support system for their recovery journey.
I’ve done everything I can to bring this dream to life:
I mortgaged my home.
I worked tirelessly to raise $90,000.
I pushed forward, even after losing $100,000 to a building service that took advantage of us.
But now, I need your help to cross the finish line.
Here’s how you can help:
1. Donate: Every dollar counts. Whether it’s $1, $5, or more, your contribution makes a difference.
2. Share: Spread the word by sharing this fundraiser with your friends, family, and networks.
3. Support Moms in Recovery: Your generosity helps break cycles of trauma and create generational healing.
This isn’t just about building a house—it’s about creating a Haven of hope, healing, and opportunity for moms and their kids.
Together, we can make this dream a reality.
Thank you for believing in this mission and for being part of the HardBeauty Havens story.
With gratitude,
Racquel
