Build The AIDS Memorial off Tottenham Court Rd

Donation protected
Who are we? AIDS Memory UK a charity set up to deliver The AIDS Memorial in London on South Crescent, Store Street, London WC1 (off Tottenham Court Road) in London.

It is to: remember those who died; celebrate the work we have done to save lives; remind us to keep fighting on to put an end to AIDS once and for all.  It will offer a place for those who lost a person to grieve.

Thank you for your support so far. We have a website now with the free help of the Mosaic Trust.

In 2024 we will announce the artist and their new public artwork that will be commissioned.

Vision: In the last 40 years, we have come a long way in our battle against AIDS. Medication saves lives and, furthermore, anyone who is taking, working and sustained treatment, cannot pass on HIV to anyone else.

Finally, with PrEP and PEP, no one needs to acquire HIV in 2021.

We have to tools to end AIDS worldwide.

Ever since we launched #AIDSMemoryUK in 2016, the theme of unity has been at the heart of what we do: "HIV has united people of differing, sometimes opposing, beliefs and values. Together we have fought an unprecedented societal stigma. In a life threatening emergency such as AIDS, we overcame our differences by seeing the common humanity we all share in order to fight for our dignity and survival."

Many of us, associated with the Campaign, lost many loved ones to AIDS - men, women, and children - in the UK and worldwide.  Each death was a tragedy but their resilience and fight to live and find meaning in their curtailed lives was inspirational.

In creating a memorial, we are celebrating their strength, their love of life, and the battle they fought against stigma, abuse, and the most horrible illness.

They cannot be forgotten. HIV & AIDS changed the UK and the world and their fight made us a better and more inclusive nation. We must always remember that.

If you can, we would so appreciate a donation. Even £5 is gratefully received.  Important note: AIDS Memory UK is in the process of becoming a registered charity. We expect to have approval from the Charity Commissioners in the next few months.

We also have secured some early funding. More soon.

In the meantime, Ash Kotak and our trustees will apply any funds received for the purposes our work, which is the promotion of equality and diversity for the public benefit, in particular but not exclusively through provision and maintenance of The AIDS Memorial in London.

Thank you.
