I have been having the best and worst days of my life!
I've never played and smiled as much as I did today and I've never felt so sad at the same time.
While washing about 70 cups, used by the children for breakfast, I was thinking of buying a cabinet for Shosho, so her utensils would no longer all be stored in buckets.
While helping the boys with their homework in a room without lighting, I thought of buying lamps and a school kit for each child, since the most they have is a notebook, almost all used, a pen and a pencil mostly blunt.
While I was playing "babalu" I was thinking of buying toys and books since I've never seen any children here with a toy, except a ball and an old rope that is shared by all.
The truth is that the place they are does not support them and it is not possible to reform it, remembering that I am in the largest slum in Kenya and that the situation here is very precarious.
My sadness is not going away and I know it won't, I need to do more, they are children, it's not their fault and they have the right to at least books, to play, not to worry about what they have (or not have) to eat, to wear decent clothes. They have the right to be children.
I know this dream is huge, I think the biggest dream I've ever dreamed of but I never heard from my parents that my dreams should have a size so here we go. The plan is to buy a some land and build the dream school.
In the best schools here, the children study for 3 months and go home for 1 month, parents love the idea, after all this is the chance to see their children away from the slums.
Once we have the land everything will be easier. The idea is to welcome volunteers and each one, with their unique talent, can help to build the center. We also know that with the land purchased will be much easier to find partnerships to build the project .
