We are writing to ask for your support in helping us raise funds for a very special cause. This spring we are planning to rebuilt a 100 year-old water faucet/fountain in the small historic village of Divri in Greece named "Upper Gavrovikos" in the exact same way as it was almost 100 years ago and which has been destroyed from a great landslide and left in ruins for the past 4 decades. We are also planning to build a wooden platform and an accessible road around Upper Gavrovikos for the people of Divri and its travellers to enjoy its crystal clear waters and use as a meeting and resting point before they continue their way to the mountains and forests of Peloponnese.
Unfortunately, as Greece has been severely hit by the global economic crisis it is left to us to make a positive change in people's lives... The overall estimated cost is 8,000 Euros and all the funds raised, no matter how small or big, will be used directly for this purpose and will undoubtedly help us immensely to make this effort come true.
We have managed to find and collect every single stone and one of the two water faucets/taps from the river where it was swiped off following the landslide, so we hope that you will embrace this small dream and help us make it come true.
Upper Gavrovikos was loved and adored by everyone and it was not just for its crystal clear and refreshing waters. It was the meeting point of everyone. It was on a road, known as the "Street of young lovers and intellectuals" connecting the aristocratic neighbourhood of Groustades to the famous open space of Lozissos of the forest of Gavros, at 1,000m altitude level. Astronomers, painters, poets, musicians and teachers would meet there and walk their way to the forest.
Thank you and we look forward to seeing you in Divri soon
