A Home Is a Basic Human Right—Let's Give This Family a Safe Shelter ❤️
Hello, my name is Munaum Abdul, and I am launching this fundraiser on behalf of my father, Abdul Muhit Gazi. We are reaching out to support Koysor Miah and his family in Osmaninagar, Sylhet, Bangladesh—a family that, despite their resilience and hard work, continues to face severe living conditions.
Their Reality: A Life of Hardship
Imagine a home that can't shield you from the rain, where the walls tremble with the wind, and every storm is a threat to your family's safety. This is the reality for Koysor Miah, his wife, their three children, his mother, and his siblings.
Despite their struggles, they have not lost hope. Determined to build a home, they have done everything in their power to improve their situation.
Their Journey So Far: A Family’s Relentless Effort
Koysor's family has already made incredible sacrifices to start their journey toward a secure home:
✅ My father donated a cow, which they sold for £526 to contribute towards their home.
✅ They sold 100 ducks and duck eggs, raising an additional £99.
✅ Through their collective effort, they gathered £625, which funded the initial foundation work.
✅ My father and two other family members donated £921 to help them take the first step.
✅ A generous family member donated a plot of land valued at approximately £1,429, where their new home is being built.
So far, they have raised £1,546 and have laid the foundation, but the journey is far from over.
Can Zakah Be Used for This Cause?
Many have asked whether they can donate their zakat toward this cause. The answer is YES.
According to Islamic teachings, zakah can be used to provide basic necessities, including shelter, to those in need. Koysor Miah’s family is struggling to secure a safe place to live, which places them under the category of "Fuqaraa" (the poor) and "Al-Masaakeen" (the needy) mentioned in the Qur'an (Surah At-Tawbah 9:60).
Scholars have ruled that if a person lacks proper shelter, zakah funds may be used to provide them with a home. This is not luxury—it is the right of a fellow human being to live with dignity and security.
➡️ All zakah donations will be used directly for constructing Koysor’s home, ensuring that your contribution fulfills your religious obligation while changing lives.
What’s Needed to Finish the Home?
To give Koysor’s family the safe home they desperately need, we need to raise £6,625 to complete the construction:
Concrete Foundation – £658
Wall Construction – £1,199
Roof Installation – £1,046
Electrical Wiring – £526
Windows & Doors – £520
Interior Finishing (Painting & Flooring, etc.) – £550
️Furniture & Final Touches – £800
Water Pump Installation – £526
Labour Costs – £800
Total Needed: £6,625
Every pound you donate brings Koysor’s family closer to having a safe, secure, and dignified home.
